Abstract
Surface modification is widely used in titanium for dental use to increase osseointegration performance. Inthis paper, osseointegration performance was researched with increased surface roughness by fabricatingmicrostructures and nanostructures on the surface. The Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8) assay analysis was usedto check osseointegration on the surface. The microstructure was fabricated by chemical etching using sulfuricacid and the nanostructure was fabricated by dipping in sodium hydroxide solution. The microstructuredsurface showed increased initial cell adhesion while no increase showed in nanostructured and micro/nanohierarchical surface. However, the surface having nanostructures showed increased cell proliferation after 14days while the microstructured surface showed dramatically decreased proliferation rate. The micro/nanodual-scale structure showed highest increased proliferation rate. Therefore, the dual-scale surface structureimproved the osseointegration performance.
