dc.description.abstract | Researchers have been studying MEMS technology for satellite thrusters since the early 21st century, developing various microthrusters using different substrates. While end-users now have a range of control hardware options, MEMS-based thrusters have limitations in material and physical properties and are not ideal for upscaling and mass production. In this study, researchers used Lab-on-PCB technology, an alternative to MEMS fabrication in microfluidics, to develop solid and liquid monopropellant thrusters with a printed circuit board (PCB) as hardware. This technique offers high structural stability, upscaling advantages, and cost-effective mass production. Integration of the satellite's electronic control system and propulsion system is expected with a fully functional Lab-on-PCB concept microthruster. | - |
