Abstract
The prediction for the deformed roll profile during rolling is significant and essential for the precision control of the profile and shape of the product. In this paper, we deal with an analysis of roll deformation during thick plate rolling, especially, by the roll flattening effect, due to contact between work roll and strip. The prediction accuracy of the conventional models, Nakajima’s and Tozawa’s, is examined, using the predictions from the finite-element based model as bebchmarks. Then, it is shown that a new, precision on-line model can be developed on the basis of the finite element model. The prediction accuracy of the new model is demonstrated through comparison with the predictions from the finite element model.
