This thesis presents a method of protecting the light emitting diode (LED) driving circuit from a short fail of LED. The proposed method uses an LED short detection circuit based on the current balancing circuit. The short detection circuit uses two types of current balancing circuit: one using an operational amplifier and bipolar junction transistor (BJT), and the other using a zener diode and BJT. These circuits detect a short fail of LED and interrupt a current flow in the LED string. The proposed circuits were tested on a four string-LED, and the experimental results show that the proposed circuits are suitable for protecting the LED driving circuit from a short fail of LED.en_US
