A Study on Success Strategies in Mobile Industry through the Analysis of Business Ecosystems

Abstract

The main purpose of this study is to analyze mobile industry which gives a key to suggest success strategies for a company who tries to build a new mobile business ecosystem. The emergence of 'Smart-Phone' changes the structure of the existed Mobile-Phone industry. Korea has been one of the strongest IT country who produces greate quality of Hardware(HW) devices within a HW oriented industry structure. However, as the importance of Software(SW) has been increased in this mobile ecosystem, the HW production becomes less important in terms of profitability. Because structure of industry and value chain have been changed so quickly, Korean companies who pursue the HW oriented business have difficulties in current mobile ecosystem. Therefore, this study analyzes success companies such as Apple and Google who have been create a new business ecosystem and a new innovative business model. And this study suggests a next strategy with a new business model through the analysis of limits of current mobile OS market in terms of technology and effectiveness. In other words, it is important for a Korean company to make a proper decision with a new strategy in a new mobile ecosystem in order to take a leadership position.
