This paper presents interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM) drive algorithm using interleaved converter with small DC-link capacitor. It is valuable to reduce the physical size of DC-link capacitor, because small DC-link capacitor based PMSM drives are available commercially, and it can achieve high-power density in power supplies. At AC-DC converter part, interleaving control method is used, because this method is good to reduce the size of input inductor, EMI filter, and RMS current of DC-link capacitor. At inverter part, new current control algorithm for IPMSM is proposed. The task is to develop a current control algorithm which yields desired regulation performances even at the small size DC-link capacitor. The current control algorithm based on modifying the d and q-axis PI current controller reference is proposed. It makes the inverter current waveform fluctuating like AC ource. Simulation and experimental results demonstrate the performance of the proposed algorithm.en_US
