- Abstract
- The behaviors of Zn-Ni codeposition in chloride baths were investigated by potentiostatic polarization method using a flow-channel cell equipped with a three-electrode system. The equilibrium type of codeposition was obtained at high overpotentials, i.e. high current densities from the bath of a concentrated chloride. ZnCl+ and NiCl+ were considered to be major reacting species in codeposition, the ratios of which represented similiar trends to the nickel deposition ratio with increasing Ni2+% and Cl- concentration, even though the slopes were somewhat different. A kind of transition region was noticed near the border of about -1.3 V such as a rapid change in the deposition ratio or the decrease of hydrogen partial current, which needs to be observed in more detail.
