- Abstract
- A new approach to the optimal design of the die shape in extrusion is presented. In this approach, optimization of the design variables is conducted by a genetic algorithm, where the fitness values are evaluated on the basis of a finite element method (FEM) analysis model. The approach is applied to the determination of the die shapes that are optimal with regard to various objective functions. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
