This thesis reports modification of CNDs’ photoluminescence (PL) using iron-carbon composites and their application toward lighting device. To synthesize Fe-CNDs, “soft-template” method has been used in this research. To modify the optical property, iron ions are incorporated in the CNDs and the effect of iron is examined by PL and absorption spectroscopy, transmis-sion electron microscope (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and secondary ion mass spectroscopy (SIMS). For practical use, freestanding films of the Fe-CNDs are fabricated based on a poly (methyl methacrylate) matrix, which can be produced white light that the correlated color temperature is about 5000K.en_US
