We study the double inner-shell ionization produced by high-intensity short-pulse X-rays and the X-ray emission from doubly inner-shell excited states of Mg (1s(2)2s(2)2p(4)3s(2)) and Xe (1s(2)2s(2)2p(6)3s(2)3p(6)4s(2)4p(6)4d(8)5s(2)5p(6)). The intensity and pulse width dependence on the X-ray emission is studied.-
