- Abstract
- Matrix homogenization effects on sintering are investigated using premixed and prealloyed Ni and Cu powders in tungsten heavy alloys. The degree of matrix homogenization is studied through two different thermal analysis techniques involving measurement of temperature difference and energy absorption. The melting behavior of the system is used to quantify the level of matrix homogenization and related to the resulting microstructures. The effects of amount of Ni-Cu. heating rate, and type of Ni-Cu powder on homogenization are evaluated. Densification is analyzed through master sintering curve (MSC) concepts and related to the homogenization of the Ni and Cu powders. The findings define processing parameters for homogenizing W-Ni-Cu using premixed Ni-Cu powders. Published by Elsevier Ltd.
