mu-XAFS beam line at Pohang Light Source

Abstract

We have obtained a 2 x 3 mum(2) focused beam with a gain of the order of 10(4) using Kirkpatrick-Baez mirrors on the X-ray microprobe beam line at Pohang Light Source. With the addition of a monochromator upstream of them these mirrors enable us to study the chemical state of materials by mu -XAFS. Before installing a fixed-exit type 4 crystal monochromator, we attempted mu -XAFS with a channel-cut crystal monochromator. To test the new capability, we chose to study a Cr foil in transmission and fluorescence modes. (C) 2001 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
