- Abstract
- The principal technical challenge in the development of the planar solid oxide fuel cell (PSOFC) is the fabrication of the thin cell components and formation of a stacked cell. A single cell planar solid oxide fuel cell system has been fabricated and is being run using hydrogen/steam as a fuel. To achieve higher power outputs, however, a multi-cellular system must be used. In this paper, the design of a stacked planar solid oxide fuel cell system is discussed. The synthesis and fabrication of the cell components; the cathode, the anode, and the interconnect materials, are also discussed.
