- Abstract
- To reduce power and delay in time-synchronized wireless sensor networks(WSNs), a new method based on the use of logical locations is proposed. The target application is data gathering tree in WSNs. All nodes periodically work and communicate in two phases. One phase is the data forwarding phase in which a packet is forwarded quickly to sink node through a logical reference tree. The other phase is a competition phase during which nodes compete send packets to nodes in the logical reference tree. We separate the target area into small square areas and select logical reference nodes. Then the logical reference nodes are connected in a tree structure. Based on logical position, logical reference nodes assign time slot to their links. The performance of the proposed algorithm is evaluated by MATLAB 7.1. The simulation results show that the number of nodes in area is not related to the power and delay. The number of time slots is inversely proportional to power but linearly proportional to delay.
