Abstract
Gas producing in tight gas reservoir had not been spotlighted until 1990s because of its low productivity and technical difficulties. However, the tight gas producing became an important issue along with the limited amount of conventional gas and oil reserves. Since 1990s, numerous methods of producing gas form tight gas reservoir are proposed. This research is for designing a new fracturing method using pulsed arc electric discharge(PAED). The main focus of the research is developing a simulation method with high predictability. The simulation is consisted of two different topics; the procedure of creating high pressure pulse from energy discharged into water and the propagation of fracture for given pressure pulse. From this research, it is found that the pressure pulse from energy discharge in water can be effectively predicted by The Mie-Grüneisen equation of state. Qualitative comparisons of newly suggested rock material models are conducted using the user subroutine supported by ANSYS AUTODYN and experimental results. As a conclusion, results with HBWW criterion show a good agreement with experimental results and a new simulation method with HBWW and the Mie-Grüneisen equation of state is suggested.
