- Abstract
- In cold strip rolling, the prediction of roll force is essential for rolling process control. However the classical theories of rolling are widely used in practice although finite element methods give a more precise and detailed analysis of the deformation during cold strip rolling. Using the finite element (FE) process model, a series of FE simulations were conducted to investigate the effect of diverse process variables. Then, the non-dimensional variables were derived from some variables describing the behaviour of the roll-strip system, on the basis of the boundary value problem associated with cold rolling. And, hypothetical mode of rolling and linear interpolation were used for the non-dimensional parameter. In conclusion, it was shown that, the selected non-dimensional parameter may be transformed into the roll force model which applied to precision process set-up and control. The prediction accuracy of the proposed approach was examined through comparison with the prediction from FE process simulation.
