Abstract
This study presents a comparison concerning the energy performance of IGFC plant, including different solvent-based carbon capture technologies such as Rectisol process and SELEXOL process. Previous studies only focused on energy performance development of IGFC plant. In addition, the carbon capture technologies are developed to be suitable for high-content separation and low energy consumption. However, the comparison on the energy performance of IGFC plant with different advanced configurations or carbon capture technologies is needed to find out the best configuration for IGFC plant. Therefore, advanced different configurations are simulated to be compared. In addition, a sensitivity analysis is operated to know the effect of carbon capture level on the IGFC energy performance. The IGFC with Rectisol process (90.81 % carbon capture rate) yields an efficiency of 53.89 % and the IGFC with SELEXOL process (90.39 % carbon capture rate) yields an efficiency of 53.58 %. In detail, an output of PSOFC and a consumption of carbon capture unit influence efficiency. From sensitivity analysis, carbon capture level has a small effect on IGFC plant, but the output of PSOFC is influenced by energy efficiency. As a result, the IGFC with Rectisol (90.81 % carbon capture rate) has the highest efficiency. In the aspect of IGFC plant development, the PSOFC performance and carbon capture unit efficiency are major power section and also should be developed to achieve high efficiency.
