Abstract
This paper presents a circular polarizer using a multi-layer radial-shaped resonator based on frequency selective surface. A radial-shaped resonator on top face provides wide transmittance magnitude bandwidth. The difference in phase transmittance between the x- and y- polarization is created by asymmetric LC unit cells consisting of horizontal and vertical gaps on the top face and the metal line on the bottom face. This linear to circular polarizer converter operates from 27.7 to 32.0 and 38.4 to 40.0 GHz while featuring less than 3 dB axial-ratio and 90°± 5° phase transmittance difference. © 2018 IEEE.
